Scott Laitinen

Mr. Laitinen is a senior financial services executive with recognized leadership, strategic, operational and risk management skills. He possesses expertise in enterprise risk management, regulatory capital, payment and retail card products within the financial services and retail markets. He founded and serves as chief risk and financial officer of Canadian peer-to-peer lender Borrowell Inc. and is president of Laitinen Consulting Inc., where he provides consulting services in enterprise, credit and regulatory risk with companies such as Score Statistical Consulting.

Previously, Mr. Laitinen served as chief risk and operating officer of President’s Choice Financial, where during the credit crisis of ’08 and ’09 he managed credit quality to responsible levels. He also served as chief financial officer / chief operating officer for Chase Card Services Canada, where he was formerly senior vice president of business development. He was Sears Canada Bank’s vice president of strategy, administration and credit risk management as well as national manager of financial services and new business development of Sears Canada. Mr. Laitinen also served as director of global business management and analysis for American Express (Amex), as a senior manager of financial analysis, card products division with Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC) and as manager of operational budgets and planning for Canada Post Corporation.

Mr. Laitinen earned a Bachelor of Commerce: Finance and Economics Specialist from the University of Toronto and is a Certified Management Accountant (CMA). He has participated in extensive professional development, and has served on the boards or committees of President’s Choice Bank, JPMorgan Chase Bank N.A., Sears Canada Bank and the Retail Council of Canada.
